We often hear the term "effortlessly attractive". It means, on top of being attractive, the person doesn't have to spend a lot of resources or efforts to achieve it. Hence the word "effortless".
Siti Nurhaliza and Baby Shima had to spent a lot of money and time to look attractive (efforts), while a typical young girl who works at cash registers often are just as attractive despite the uniforms and no makeup (minimal efforts or effortless).
"effortlessly threatening" also works the same way.
If you have to hold a gun in order to be perceived as credible threat, that is not considered "effortlessly", because you still have to wield or brandish a weapon just to qualify as threatening.
Being "effortlessly threatening" means, your nemesis could infer from you the potential to do damage or harm, despite you may not look like it.
Do you ever wonder why bullies don't pick up on people who are bigger and stronger than them? Well, that's because they would suffer losses if they do. Who wants to lose?
So the key is "winning". In modern times, winning means winning at life.
How do you win at life? By being successful. How do you define success? It can a combination of these: happy, financially stable, having good friends, accomplished personal records, and above all, being content.
The combinations and bar varied from person to person. I may have what you don't, and you may have what I don't. Combinations doesn't matter, because the anchor is "being content".
Suppose you have a lot of money, healthy kids, a big house, beautiful wife, but you are not content nor happy, then you are not really successful.
...and because you are 'not' successful, you kind of perturbed at others who have a bit more of this, and a bit more of that. Despite however, by metric, you have more than what they have.
You can't help this feeling. You feel unease. You feel insecure.
The person you thought is responsible for waking up these "insecurities" in you is now a threat.
They are effortlessly threatening.
